ISOC Milwaukee, Day 1

Hey everyone, Gary Walton here reporting in from the famed Milwaukee Mile.  Night one of racing produced great on-track action in front of a large crowd of Brew town locals. At first glance, the narrow paperclip-shaped track that was

constructed on the front straight of the big mile, looked as if it would be boring and uneventful. Warm temps and an abundant depth of snow, however, produced an ever-changing surface that quickly developed multiple lines that made for some kick-ass racing.

T-Train, Tucker Hibbert continued his domination of the Pro ranks, winning his 49th main event in 99 starts. Mike Bauer continued to look good in Semi Pro Stock 1, while Justin Broberg lead an onslaught of team Warnert racers to the line in Semi-Pro Open.

2011 Polaris 800 RUSH Spy Photos

These photos ended up in our IN box recently. Not sure where they came from or who took them, but they clearly show engineering prototypes including one crossover showing that RUSH bodywork fits other models. They also clearly show that engineering tests graphics too as it looks like the stickers on the RUSH say 800. Is the engine to match in there too? The internet is a powerful force.

MASTERS Hillclimb President Skip Schultz Checks In

Due to the intent of Copper Peak Ski Flying Inc. Board of Directors in bringing Ski Flying back to Copper Peak, their Board has invested a lot of money into a future Ski Flying event.  This past year they installed numerous Steel Posts on the side of the hill.  These posts will then hold the Side Boards that Ski Flying requires.

For the safety of the drivers, we will not have a Snowmobile Hillclimb at Copper Peak this winter.  I am hopefull that we will see a Snowmobile Hillclimb return to Copper Peak in the future.

However, with the fantastic help of Jordan Stank, The MASTERS Circuit is bringing the Whealkate Bluff Winternationals Snowmobile Hillclimb back.  This is where snowmobile hillclimbs really began, when I was a part of running the Winternationals in the early 90′s.  However after two years, the organization that I was with decided to not run the event anymore, thus I worked on bringing a Snowmobile Hillclimb to Copper Peak.  I cannot impress upon all of you enough as to all that Jordan has done to help me get this event back.  Without Jordan, this event would NOT take place.

Cory Davis Checks In

Hey everyone, sorry it took so long to get my Duluth recap sent out. I’m actually in a suburban on my way to the ISOC race in Milwaukee right now. I’ll be writing recaps after every National so be sure to check them out.

Duluth: this year Duluth was pushed back two weeks so instead of nice autumn weather we got the bitter cold! There’s nothing worse than cold racing because its such a struggle between trying to stay warm and still being able to move. You don’t want to wear too much clothing but being cold when they drop the green flag doesn’t work either. ISOC tried 20 people in the main this year and I don’t think it worked, or at least on that small Duluth track it didn’t. They also went back to a round version of qualifying and I personally liked how we did it last year because it was like motocross. Besides all that it was my first Pro race and over all I’m very happy with how things went down. I won my first heat race and quaified 6 and 8 so I started on the front row in both mains! I finished 7th and 8th in the finals.

One final thing, I got my invite to Winter X yesterday. I’ve been working on my ramp routine and that combined with snocross should make it a good event for me. Be sure to check out my site: www.cory-davis.com.

Sweet Whip

This guy’s name is Jerry Frederiksson. Never heard of him, but I guess we have now. All he needs to do is win the main so he can put his skills to good use. Found on redsherpa.com:

sledRacer.com hung out with Shane Felegy while he tested his Aggressive Hydraulics-backed Champ sled in Roseau. Seeing as how it was a balmy -20 Fahrenheit some of the fun got sucked out of what’s usually a marginally fun experience to begin with. I mean, testing? C’mon, it’s like work almost. The good thing about testing for ice racing is it’s cheap – all you need is a frozen pond and a plow and you’re good to go. We sat down with Shane in the warm Felegy Racing trailer and got the scoop on his continued pursuit of the elusive Eagle River World Championship.
