What to say about the I-500? Irode hard and walked away with 6 stitches, a ripped track, a bent sled, and a tetanus shot. This was my longest cross country race and I had a lot of different people telling me different things, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I rode really safe the first day and paid for it because I ended up 9th or something. The second day I was pretty pissed and was ready to throw it away in an effort to get a better time. I was down from the leader (D.J. Ekre) 7-something minutes and I didn’t see how it was possible to gain it back. Needless to say I went out the second day with vengeance. I rode hard and hung it out a lot of times. Leaving the last fuel stop i had 6 minutes on second place, about 7 miles from the finish something broke in my pipe
