The 2013 Iron Dog race paid out $126K in cash and the overall purse totalled $210,500. Here’s the breakdown of major cash payouts:
1st place: $50,000 – McKenna / VanMeter (Team #17)
2nd place: $35,000 – Aklestad / Johnson (Team #8)
3rd place: $18,000 – Morgan / Olds (Team #10)
4th place: $13,000 – George / Bartel (Team #25)
5th place: $10,000 – Davis / Palin (Team #11)
For the team finishing in 6th place, the contingency prize is a certificate for a free entry into the 2014 Iron Dog race for both riders.
